Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

The short version: Compoundr is local-first. Your tracking data lives on your device and goes nowhere. The only exceptions are iCloud Backup and Research Assist — and both require your explicit consent before any data leaves your device.

1. Our Core Principle

Compoundr is built on a simple premise: your research data is yours. We do not have servers that store your stack, your doses, your protocols, or anything else you enter into the app. No account is required. No data is transmitted by default.

This policy describes the narrow exceptions to that principle and exactly what happens in each case.

2. What We Never Collect

Under any circumstances, Compoundr does not collect or transmit:

  • Your compound names, protocols, or research stack
  • Your dose logs or injection site history
  • Your vial inventory or reconstitution records
  • Your personal health information
  • Usage analytics, behavioral data, or telemetry
  • Device identifiers or IP addresses
  • Any account information (no account is created)

We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or any third-party tracking tools.

3. Data Stored On Your Device (Default)

All data you enter into Compoundr is stored locally on your iPhone. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly activate one of the two external features described in Sections 4 and 5. Deleting the app permanently deletes all locally stored data.

4. iCloud Backup — Explicit Opt-In Required

iCloud Backup is an optional Premium feature that is OFF by default. Before it can be enabled, the app will present you with a consent notice that explains:

  • What data will be synced to iCloud
  • That this data will be governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
  • That Compoundr has no access to your iCloud data
  • That you can disable this feature at any time

You must affirmatively tap "I understand and agree" before iCloud Backup is activated. If you decline, iCloud Backup remains off and no data is transmitted.

Once enabled: your app data syncs to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. Only you can access this data. Apple's Privacy Policy governs how Apple handles iCloud data (apple.com/privacy).

5. Research Assist — Explicit Consent Per Session

Research Assist is powered by the Anthropic Claude API. It is an external service. Before you can use Research Assist for the first time, the app will display a consent notice that explains:

  • That the text of your queries will be sent to Anthropic's servers for processing
  • That Compoundr does not transmit your tracking data, dose logs, or compound stack to Anthropic
  • That only what you type into the Research Assist input field is sent
  • That queries are subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy (anthropic.com/privacy)
  • That Research Assist is for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice

You must affirmatively tap "I understand and agree" before Research Assist is activated. This consent is stored so you are not asked again on every use, but it can be revoked at any time in app settings, which will disable the feature.

Compoundr does not log or store your Research Assist queries on any server we operate.

6. Summary: When Does Data Leave Your Device?

Never, by default. Only in these two cases, only after your explicit consent:

  • iCloud Backup (opt-in): your tracking data → your personal iCloud account
  • Research Assist (opt-in): your typed query → Anthropic API → response returned to app

That's it.

7. Purchases and Subscriptions

All billing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive, process, or store your payment information. Apple's Privacy Policy governs payment data handling.

8. Children's Privacy

Compoundr is rated 17+ and is not directed at individuals under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from users under 17.

9. Data Deletion

To delete all your Compoundr data: delete the app from your iPhone. If iCloud Backup is enabled, you can delete your iCloud data through your iPhone's iCloud settings (Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage).

10. Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
